What Is It That You Are Really Hungry For?

A lot of people struggle with different kinds of addictions now a days. Be it drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, food, chocolate, or even shopping addiction. There are so many different kinds of addiction but the root cause of all of them hardly changes, and that is the lack of fullfillment. We live in a time and age where instant gratification is not only preferred, but also required and sought after by all means.

Happiness has become so related to things – “If I obtain this object, I’ll be happy”, that’s how most of us think and believe. The level of excitement rises and with it the dopamine levels go up and give that feeling of happiness and satisfaction while working on getting to that specific goal. “This is all great”, you might be wondering, “where’s the problem with wanting to achieve something??” The real problem lies in that the minute we obtain the thing/object we were seeking after and have it, it doesn’t mean that much to us any more, and the quest for something new and a different source of excitement begins, and so on and so forth.

We need to deal with our emotions directly and be realistic about them. If we’re not really happy within, NOTHING will change that! Not that piece of chocolate, not that drink, nor is it that designer bag you’ve been eyeing.

A lot of our bad and unhealthy habits stem from the fact that we are hollow and empty inside and seeking that thing which will magically fill that void and change how we feel.

The reason why people struggle with different issues is that they try to mask how they real feel and deny it. They will EAT their way though sadness or discontent, they might BUY what they think is going to make them happy, and sometimes they will DROWN their emotions by drinking. There are so many ways we could suppress about our emotions but the only right and healthy way is to face them, address them, and act upon them.

Attending a yoga class, practicing breathing techniques, and meditating are just a few things that can help in bringing peace and clarity of mind to help us better DEAL with our issues and find true happiness that stems from within.

Happiness, contentedness, and gratification cannot be sought after nor bought. They can only come from within!
