Karl Lagerfeld created an entire Chanel airport for his Spring/Summer 16 Paris Fashion Week show on Tuesday (06Oct15).

The creative director is renowned for putting on one of the most flamboyant presentations of the season, and this time around was no exception.

The set was an airport, complete with boarding passes, check-in desks, air stewardesses and a departure board – all emblazoned with the Chanel branding, of course. As usual a number of fashion's most recognizable names were on hand to show off the new collection, among them Kendall Jenner and Edie Campbell. Cara Delevingne skipped the runway in favor of the front row, although she did strut alongside Karl when he came out at the end.

The clothes saw the classic Chanel suit given an overhaul. One model wore the jacket with turned-up collar which is so reminiscent of the brand in a white and blue color, teamed with a matching below-the-knee skirt and baseball cap. Others wore similar two-pieces with matching headbands, one of the accessories most on offer with this line.

There were slightly less wearable offerings too: a pink evening dress with pussy bow detailing which shimmered green and blue in the light was worn over a pair of wide-legged, dark pink trousers and had a lilac tweed jacket on top.

There were jeans too, with the denim cut very loose in a nod to the '70s. Paired with a loose Chanel jacket – boasting sleeves stopping at the wrist – this look managed to be fresh and inspired by the decade, rather than a clone of it. With Alexander McQueen also presenting denim on Sunday (04Oct15), it seems this will be a key trend for Spring/Summer 16.

Shoes have become one of the buzzwords at Chanel over the last few seasons and this time around there were two looks to choose from. Those preferring flats could opt for a simple sandal with built-up sole – kind of like an updated slider. People wanting more glamour will love the silver platform sandal boots with transparent panels along the side of the foot and lace-up fronts.

Paris Fashion Week wraps on Wednesday (07Oct15) with the highly-anticipated Louis Vuitton show.
