The Working Woman’s Guide to Fall Fashion
Back to Business
It’s September already and you know what that means… We will unwillingly be putting away our swimwear and coming to terms with the fact that we are back to reality. Whether that means going back to the office, the school board or charity committee, you need to dress the part. Fall fashion’s silhouettes are changing which means that your workwear will change as well. CIIN explores the exciting new silhouettes for your Fall work wardrobe. 1 || The New Blazer and Pants
There is a new blazer for Fall and we are super excited about it. A longer version of the traditional blazer, it grazes the lower hip and perfectly concealers your derriere. The style of the jacket appears oversized, but in fact it should fit your shoulders and arms perfectly. Matched to pegged, ankle pants and of course the v-neck shoes, this is a great and versatile interpretation of modern workwear.
2 || The Belted Jacket and Pants
Another look to add to your wardrobe is the belted jacket with wide leg pants. This jacket is fitted, and sits at the upper hip, belted with either its own fabric belt (like a trench-coat) or your own basic brown belt. The pants are fitted at the hips to ensure that there isn’t too much excess fabric, they then flare into a wide leg, either cropped or regular length.
3 || Modern Suiting
Remember the pantsuit, when the jacket and pants are in the same color and fabric ? Well it’s making a strong return this fall in men’s suiting fabrics. Choose from a grey Prince of Wales check, or a warmer houndstooth and pair with a basic shirt or bodysuit.
4 || The Midi
The midi skirt, fitted at the waist and flaring out is a hot trend for fall. You can choose a skirt in this shape and match it to a fitted little sweater, pair it with a pair of booties for an on trend look. Alternatively you can choose a dress that mimics this same silhouette.A long sleeved, tight fitting bodice that flares past the hip, add a belt for some added styling.
5 || Knitwear
Knit doesn’t just mean sweaters this season… Knit midi dresses and matching knit tops and skirts have made a huge comeback.Ensure that the knit is thick enough so it has enough coverage for the workspace.
6 || The Trench
The beige trench is also a hot favorite for fall, throw it over any of the above looks or a simple shirt and pant/skirt and you are ready to roll !
