The 2017 CFDA Winners || 3 Designer Brands You Need to Know About
On Monday evening the much anticipated CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund awards were announced at an event in Brooklyn New York. The annual event, in its 14th year, is instrumental in identifying and supporting American up and coming talent with both cash incentives and designer mentorship programs.
This years ten finalists ranged from menswear to swimwear designers, and have been touted as the most ’diverse’ group of contestants to date. Its quite interesting how the worthy cause of diversity has been thrown around and over-used.Honestly since when was there a diversity issue in fashion anyway ?Hollywood for sure, fashion not so much! Some of the most celebrated American designers are of diverse heritage, a few that come to mind are Belgian Diane Von Furstenberg, Asian-descendant Vera Wang, French born Joseph Altuzzara and of course Lebanese Reem Acra!In any case…The winners of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund for 2017 are:
