Stella McCartney’s Paris Fashion Week runway show featured oversized padded jackets, frilled necklines and swan print.
The British designer showed off her Autumn/Winter 16 ready-to-wear collection at the Opera Garnier in Paris on Monday morning (07Mar16) and was clearly influenced by the concept of glamour meets sport.
Fashionistas eager to see Stella’s latest creations were not disappointed as the audience was treated to models wearing a series of big padded jackets – many of which fell to the knee, boasted belts and appeared in hues from black to burnt orange.
The show opened with Damaris Goddrie wearing a bright copper velvet puffa cape and dazzling metallic pleated culottes.
Another standout outfit featured a copper padded coat which was left open and partnered with padded shorts sitting mid-thigh, as well as a charcoal shirt and white stilettos.
Colour featured in the form of orange, red, gold, baby blue and bright pink – with pops of brightness also seen in the trim around collars and skirt panels. One model stepped onto the catwalk in a floor length pink creation with dropped waist, frilled sleeves and ruffles leading to a deep V around the neckline.
A dip-dyed knee-length denim dress with corset style lacing on the front also turned heads. Dresses and skirts tended to fall mid-calf, while billowing trousers featured heavily in predominantly grey or black and coats featured large collars and pockets. A quirky swan print was also a recurring theme, appearing on wide legged trousers, jumpers and pleated skirts.
