The Dubai Design and Fashion Council has launched their annual talent competition for the second year running. A generous endowment granted to the most promising fashion and accessories designers in the region. These five talented women have made the list and we are super excited to share their stories with us. So you can say that you knew them way back when, when they become über famous!
Ayah Tabari || All Things Mochi
Ayah Tabari has a very strong sense of identity and actually makes fashion our of what she finds desirable (a lot of designers do it the other way round ). Her appreciation for exotic cultures and their crafts has created a comfortable niche for Ayah which she continues to expand on. Each season she introduces a new line based on an entirely new culture and technique. Something really hard to do, you need to be passionate and that she is!
Reema Al Banna || Reemami
There is something utterly delightful about Reemami’s designs. The combination of playfulness and sophisticated design is appealing to many, we want to look great but we don’t want to take fashion too seriously. Well Reema Al Banna has this formula nailed with her sharp architectural cuts and hand illustrated graphics. Her refreshing take on fashion has been appreciated with a number of previous nominations and awards, and we are excited to watch her grow!
Mira Hayek brings to the table a very strong modern aesthetic. She designs for a confident woman that is willing to bend the rules. Her generally solid colors a perfect canvas to showcase her dramatic proportions and innovative styles. Mira’s youthful aesthetic is balanced out with a masterful understanding of fabric and proportions.
