Saint Laurent Get Glam For PFW
Saint Laurent glammed up grunge for its Autumn/Winter 16 collection.
Designer Hedi Slimane went back in time to the late '80s for his new range, which he unveiled during Paris Fashion Week on Monday evening (07Mar16). Before the audience soaked in the edgy, exaggerated ensembles, they were drawn in by the models' thick black eye make-up and bright red lips, highlighted by the fact their hair was scraped back.
Attention quickly turned to the clothes, with leather making its mark on the runway. One black leather jacket was emblazoned with silver stars, while another girl looked effortlessly cool in a leather jumpsuit boasting metallic embellishment on the top. To give structure, her waist was clenched by a chunky gold metal belt.
Although leather was arguably the defining material of the line, other contrasting fabrics made things pop. Oversized black fluffy sleeves, featuring structured shoulders resembling wings, were attached to a black leather dress, as a red polka dot tutu-style skirt was worn with a black top.
The dresses were the showstoppers though, with many barely falling beneath the women's hips. Many of the bustiers were moulded into bold shapes, such as a multi-coloured metallic number with a single wing rising out of the top. Equally as head-turning was a shiny red mini dress boasting one gold sleeve with a frill.
