Rihanna’s Size || What a Difference a Style Makes
Rihanna has been out in full force this past week. Gracing the proverbial red carpet three times, each time giving us a very different look. This is really helpful when you want to compare styles. It would be fair to assume that during this week she hadn’t gained or lost any weight, which means the dress choice mostly determined how flattering her figure looked.
Rihanna started the week off in a Dolce & Gabbana ruched number at her Spring 2019 presentation for Savage x Fenty lingerie line. The sheer, figure-hugging dress clearly defined the star’s curvaceous body, and one may argue, a little too much…. Although the dress was flattering, the clingy silhouette not only highlighted her waist but also the fact that the way her waist curves out into her hips is not her strongest asset.
Jumping now to the sublime fuschia Calvin Klein by Appointment that Rihanna wore yesterday to the Fenty Beauty anniversary event at Sephora in NYC. It would be fair to say that Rihanna looks 5 pounds lighter in that heavenly dress.
Firstly let’s start with the similarity between the two dresses and the main reason for Rihanna appearing so svelte. The vertical lines that dominate both dresses. In the Dolce & Gabbana number the two lines down the front were key in slimming Rihanna down substantially. In the fuchsia number, the ruffles going down the center played a similar role.
The second reason for the über-flattering dress was where it hugged Rihanna’s body. If you were to create a diagram of the songstress’ figure, it would be clear that her smallest area is actually the part below her bust up to her top hip. Above that she has an ample bust and below that, her hips come out, but not in the most flattering way. The fact that the dress hugged her in these parts specifically was a good move. One can only assume that these details were determined during the fitting, pinned on the star there and then.
Another reason for the success of the fuchsia dress is how the dress slit cut the stars thighs at an angle, thus slimming and elongating her upper thigh. Rihanna actually has thin thighs right above the knee, its her upper thigh that could be considered full…. The way the dress cascaded down helped slim that part.
As for the third dress worn this week, an Alexis Mabille couture number that did nothing for the songstress. The shade of creme was bride-like. The ribbon gift-like, and the way the ribbon flared out from the waist did little to slim her down…
