Pilling || That Fuzzy Stuff On Your Sweater and How to Get Rid of It
It has little to do with the quality of the knit top, it has to do with the fibers used to make the top, the shorter the fibers the more likely your sweater is to pill. The only thing is that long-fibered textiles are more expensive, which is why it feels like inexpensive clothing pills first !
There is no need to throw your sweater out, you just need to remove the pilling.CIIN explores four de-pilling methods…
1 || Sweater Comb
This looks like a small, fine-toothed comb that is actually made up of razor teeth. Lay your sweater flat and taunt on a surface and gently comb the pills away. Don’t over do it or you will shave the knit off in the process. This is ideal for small areas on a sweater.
2 || Sweater Stone
This is similar in concept to a pumice stone, a rough textured block that removes pilling. This is a relatively aggressive form of removal and can be used on large surfaces of a textured sweater.Don’t try it on a smooth sweater, it may damage it.
3 || Sweater Shaver
This battery-operated shaver is the handiest of the lot, the only issue is that you don’t have complete control because it is battery operated and therefore acts like an energizer bunny.It’s plastic container, used to collect the pill, allows you to see how well you are doing.
4 || Razor
This is the probably something you already have in your bathroom cabinet, so can be used for quick fixes. The surface of the razor is very small so won’t be able to sweep up too much pilling, but can be used in emergencies. Once again, don’t get over zealous with your sweeping, you may damage your sweater.
