Paris Couture Day 1 || What Was Trending on the Catwalks
Day 1 of Paris Couture started off with Schiaparelli but the real bang took place, as expected at Dior.Throughout the day couturiers and their army of petite mains (those unsung soldiers) presented the fashion world with dreamy concoctions. Without the financial constraints of a real woman’s wardrobe budget the sky was the limit. There were a few solid trends that prevailed. Each day we will bring to you what was trending, so that you feel like you were actually there…
I don’t know if it’s the upcoming Ramadan season, that most lucrative of fashion events or and actual love of kaftans.Regardless there was a kaftan in each of yesterday’s shows, and we say, the more the merrier.
Again, whether it is the huge potential for modest fashion in the region, or just a love of cloth…Nudity and modest were both present on the runways in equal doses.
And you thought it was over ?Fringed dresses are back, full fledged top to bottom fringes or slightly more discreet trimming, one things for sure, you need fringes in your life.
As always, as things get rocky on the political and financial front, things get dreamier and prettier on the runways. That alternate universe that allows us to feel hopeful. There was no shortage of designer dreams on the runway in the form of ruffles and tulle in every sorbet ice cream shade under the sun.
We haven’t seen this trend in a while, but it is strong.Good old fashioned corsetry that thankfully doesn’t crush your ribs in the process.
