Louis Vuitton focused on luxurious street wear at a spectacular runway show in Paris.
Held at the palatial Fondation Louis Vuitton in the Bois de Boulogne in the French capital on Wednesday morning (09Mar16), the set had a glittering ruin effect due to mirror glass pillars which models wove in between and a striking black and white tiled floor.
Artistic director of Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquiere, wasn't afraid to clash print and texture in the Autumn /Winter 16 show, layering flowing silk paisley print dresses over tartan inspired print high-neck jumpers, and accessorising models with futuristic boots.
Lace-up boots in patent black and blue leather are probably only suitable for the urban jungle, but they contrasted nicely with the retro-print gowns paraded down the runway.
A stand out was a flowing white satin dress worn under a structured black leather bralet and paired with metallic silver biker boots, alluding to the strength of ancient Greek goddesses. Also turning heads was a fluffy red and blue print sweater styled with patent leather black trousers, lace-up ankle boots and a slouchy handbag made from crocodile leather.
Military influences crept in, with navy blue jackets studded with gold buttons and army stripes, but the addition of an oversized black fur trapper hat was most surprising.
Models had loose flowing tresses, slicked back at the crown, and neutral make-up, aside from a daring swipe of shiny blackberry coloured lipstick.
Louis Vuitton is one of the biggest shows of the season, and the front row was packed to the rafters with A-list names, including Swedish actress and brand muse Alicia Vikander, Selena Gomez and Jaden Smith.
The final day of catwalk presentations includes Miu Miu, which will help bring Fashion Month to an end.
