Karl Lagerfeld Opens Flagship in NY and Promises Fabulous Collaborations!!
I would assume that for any fashion label, a New York flagship store would be a huge milestone that demonstrates the legitimacy of said label; even if the label is owned by Karl….yes Chanel’s Karl. Karl Lagerfeld Paris opened its first US store yesterday in Manhattan New York at 420 West Broadway.
The 300-square-meter museum-like store has Karl written all over it… literally!! The shop boasts various artworks featuring the designer himself in either an oversized back-and-white photograph, or a Tokidoki cartoonish sculpture of Karl holding his uber-famous cat Choupette. Your shopping experience can find you lounging on red velvet seatings while being surrounded with antique mirrors and marble everywhere.
The store will carry ready-to-wear women and men, as well as shoes and accessories. Moreover, and more importantly it will serve two new functions that are yet to be launched. It will be the platform to launch Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo cosmetics line which has been in the works for some time, as well as being the place to launch Karl Lagerfeld x Kaia capsule collection, which the designer has been working on with Kaia Gerber and will launch in September.
Opening a store in New York is a natural progression for any label, and probably the most significant, what with New York City being one of the most important fashion capitals with its cosmopolitan interface and energetic, fast-paced life.
