Gigi x Tommy Collaboration Arrives At The Finish Line!
Two years and four collections later, Gigi Hadid walked Tommy Hilfiger’s runway for the last time as his collaborator during Milan Fashion Week and it was quite an emotional experience for her.
Gigi x Tommy’s was quite the successful collaboration for them both as it involved massive amounts of publicity, needless to mention the fabulously elaborate carnival show jet-setting from New York to LA to London and ending in Milan.
Of her experience Gigi revealed that she enjoyed every minute of the long hours they spent designing and working on the collections. “I felt really lucky to have that responsibility and I took it really seriously.” She explained. It gave her a confidence boost like no other as she learned to master the role of the designer “I learned more how to step into my power in a way in terms of being confident in myself.” She further explained.
This experience may be the stepping stone that Gigi needs to further expand on her successes as she will learn to build on the skills she learnt. She doesn’t want to rush things however, as she will take the time to thoroughly investigate her options and develop something that she would feel passionate about and would be a natural extension of her vision and ambitions.
Designed as an indoor race track, the last Gigi x Tommy runway was lined with F1 cars as well as see-now/buy-now stores for the audience to be able to shop the trends shown on the catwalk. Gigi’s siblings were naturally among the models walking down the runway alongside an impressive crew consisting of Joan Smalls, Hayley Baldwin and Jeremy Meeks among others.
Despite being expected to announce a new collaboration soon, some believe that Hilfiger will face difficulties topping this collaboration and outshining himself, however, having replaced Hugo Boss as the main sponsor of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Formula One team, it seems that Hilfiger still has some tricks up his sleeve. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for both Gigi and Tommy, but I think we can take a very wild guess!
