Get Your Brunch On at these Six Amman Hotspots

Shamefully awaking during P.M. hours is a vacation-mode cardinal rule, and, luckily, there’s a meal out there perfect for just that schedule: brunch. Whether you’ve woken up too late for breakfast, in the mood for an early lunch, or simply just love the meal (because who doesn’t?), here are the six brunch spots you need to hit this summer staycation.

1 || Shams El Balad

69 Mu'Ath Bin Jabal Street

(06) 465 1150

If you’re searching for brunch with a view, then this Jabal Amman eatery, which overlooks the historical downtown district, may be your holy grail. Celebrated as one of the city’s rare farm-to-table spots, Shams El Balad serves up Middle Eastern food with an unexpected, fusion twist. Enjoy the classics, like Mouhamarra, Fatoush, and Grilled Halloumi, but make sure to order their other original dishes, like the Apricot Mint Labaneh, Walnut Msakhan, and one of their many Taboon Flatbreads.

2 || Mesh — W Hotel

W Amman Abdali, Rafiq Hariri Street Building 13

(06) 510 8888

This Abdali hotel is one of Amman’s hippest spots right now, and their Friday brunch at Mesh is a testament to that. Their multi-level, outdoors seating area is the perfect spot to bask in this summer heat as you eat, drink, and enjoy live music spun by a DJ. Priding itself as an international eatery whose dishes subtly nod to local flavor, Mesh’s buffet-style brunch serves global cuisine in an energetic environment — what better way to start your weekend?

3 || Pit Stop

Sameeh Al Shoumali St. - 7th Circle

(077) 988 8333

Feel like your night fell too short on partying? Make up for it at Pit Stop’s Saturday brunch. Their extensive menu accommodates all cravings, whether you’re in the mood for a healthy salad, something indulgent, like their nachos, or even a juicy steak. While the food is certainly a bonus here, what’s really on the menu is a fun day of drinking and dancing with your friends all before the sun has even set.

4 || Primal Restaurant

Omar Bin Ekramah St, Zahran

(078) 8700 111

Contrarily, if you’ve partied too hard this weekend, then brunch at health-hub, Primal, is your perfect cure. This cozy, Abdoun eatery caters to paleo eaters, but their additional vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free dishes satisfy those with other dietary restrictions as well. If you’re craving savory, order the Avocado Dill Egg Salad atop of paleo bread, or the Kale and Quinoa Salad served with flavorful toppings; satisfy your sweet tooth too, though, with Grain-free, Dairy-free — and did we mention guilt free? — Pancakes!

5 || Majnoon Qahwa at TAJ Lifestyle Center

(079) 691 5352

This snug cafe nestled on the top floor of TAJ is a beacon of fusion Middle Eastern cuisine, which makes it a perfect spot to hit if your brunch squad are all craving different flavors. To those pining for Levantine fare, order the Shakshuka, one of their many Manakeesh options, or even the Quinoa Tabbouleh. Feeling something more foreign? Treat yourself to some Eggs Benedict, or a perfectly-griddled waffle paired with their trademark coffee and city views.

6 || Pancake and Waffle House

Abdoun Bur Sae'ed St.

(06) 593 3432

The name says it all, but that doesn’t mean you’re limited to an exclusively sweet-tasting brunch at Pancake and Waffle House — though that wouldn’t be a bad situation to be in. Serving up a range of breakfast items, from sandwiches to an extensive omelet list (we recommend the Greek, which comes with feta cheese and veggies with a side of bread), this Abdoun joint is the perfect place to indulge in classic brunch items. Finish off strong, though, with what they do best: perhaps the Nutella Pancake or a Peanut Butter Waffle.
