John Galliano went all out with futuristic shapes and tapestry type fabrics as he showcased his 'Artisanal' collection for Maison Margiela on Wednesday 27 Jan’16. The designer was announced as the artistic director of the fashion house back in January 15, and showcased his Spring/Summer 16 range for the label during Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris, France.

There was very much a futuristic feel to many of the outfits, with one woman wearing a midi dress made of silver shiny fabric, teamed with matching silver lipstick and knee high boots.

This theme continued throughout the collection, with another model wearing a dress consisting of a ruffled black skirt with a short sleeved top featuring one large metallic shoulder and white accents, worn over metallic cigarette leg trousers.

A contrast between minimal styling and outlandish colours and patterns also proved successful during the showcase, with Colin Firth's wife Livia commenting on Twitter: "Creativity at its best maisonmargiela #Paris #couture."
