Fendi Goes Quirky
Fendi gave sumptuous elegance a playful edge as they showed at Milan Fashion Week on Thursday (25Feb16).
The Italian fashion house showed a stunning selection of ensembles as it debuted its Autumn/Winter 16 Ready to Wear line, with models including Kendall Jenner the perfect clothes horses for the outfits.
Kendall kicked things off in a blue jacket that looked almost velveteen thanks to its soft fabric, trimmed with fur and worn over a patterned high-neck minidress. The look was topped off with a pair of thigh-high blue boots, unique in their design as they featured ruffles all over the front and round the heel.
For a label so synonymous withaccessories, Fendi didn't disappoint, with Kendall completing her outfit by carrying a patterned clutch bag. Some of the bags shown in the range were almost childlike in their design, thanks to their eye-catching colors and quirky shapes, with many of them also sporting striped straps to add even more interest.
The ruffle concept continued throughout the presentation, from a high neck orange blouse with a V-shaped ruffle on the front to a black silk dress with a ruffled neckline. Faux fur was also a big theme in the collection, with bags, coats and stoles in often bright colors.
Critics noted that modesty seemed to be important in the showcase, with barely any skin on show. Instead, the designers appeared determined to prove that even the most covered up ensemble can still look chic and, in some situations, sexy.
