Emily Blunt Does It All Right And In The Process Gets It All Wrong
You know when you’ve done it all right and it still looks wrong… Well Emily Blunt fell victim to that last night at her ‘A Quite Place’ NYC premiere. The actress who worked along side her director husband was dressed in a Fall 2018 Oscar de la Renta ready-to-wear midi dress. Made of a velvet bustier and cascading scalloped chiffon the dress itself was pretty enough although it could have easily fit into a Eighties runway collection by Oscar himself.
That’s the trick with retro styles, you need to be able to give it a modern twist or you may risk looking dated. It would be fair to say that Emily’s hairstyle did little to shake things up.
Another thing that irked us was that she didn’t make it her own. The look is worn exactly as it was on the runway, down to the sandals…Perhaps the stylist in question should have added a little personality to the look with a pair of transparent sandals…The pitch perfect clutch added to the characterless look that could have so easily been smashing had they thought outside the box a little.
Don’t get us wrong, technically there is little wrong with her look, but on a personality-level it is lacking. Gone are the days when clothing trumps character. Now you need to show what you’re made of. This has everything to do with the fact that our world is so accessible that there is little intrigue left. We’ve seen the dress a million times on Google, Vogue.com and IG the only thing attractive is in fact how you choose to style it…
