Comme de Garçons’ Rei Kawabuko and Tonight’s Met Gala
Today’s MET gala will set the creatives apart and we can’t wait to see who goes the extra mile. The 2017 MET theme is titled : Rei Kawabuko || The Art of In-between. A 120 piece installation of clothing by renowned Japanese fashion designer Rei Kawabuko, the founder of the avant-garde label Comme de Garçons and fashion store Dover Street Market.
Traditionally the MET gala event, organized by Vogue US’ Anna Wintour is the launch of the annual fashion exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The theme of the exhibition follows through to the gala. Although dressing to the theme is recommended it is not mandatory. Take for example 2015’s China : Through the Looking Glass, there were stars that went all out, Riri in her fried egg concoction, and SJP with her shocking and highly inconvenient head piece.
