Azza Fahmy To Open First Stand-Alone Boutique in London!

Azza Fahmy

Beloved Egyptian jewellery designer Azza Fahmy will open up her first UK store in March and we couldn’t be prouder! With less than a handful of Arab designer stores in London, her first UK store will be located in upscale Mayfair, at the iconic Burlington Arcade neighbouring the likes of Chanel and Mulberry. Burlington Arcade is not only one of the most prestigious retail destinations worldwide; it also has such a historical and architectural value making it the perfect location for Azza Fahmy’s masterpieces. Elie Saab is the only other Arab designer with a boutique in London and in Mayfair specifically. Other Arab designers in London include Zuhair Murad’s ready-to-wear shop in Harrods and Boutique1 on Sloane Street.

Establishing her brand in Egypt in 1969, Fahmy was able to force her way into a male-dominated world, learning the tricks of the trade either in Khan El Khalili, or at City of London Polytechnic (now London Guildhall University). Her first Cairo shop opened in 1981, and now she has branches in Jordan, and her pieces are sold in the US, UK, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The brand also has a strong online presence and e-shop.

Fahmy’s pieces have a cult-like following, worn by Rihanna and Joss Stone they are also a favourite among royal families, world leaders, and fashionistas in the Arab world and globally. Fahmy’s pieces can be recognised anywhere; linking the past with the present. They combine intricate craftsmanship with her unmistakable style depicting various Egyptian symbols be they hieroglyphic, pharaonic, or inspired by great Egyptians such as Umm Kulthum. Her authentic designs are also inspired by the Ottomans, Africans, and tribal civilisations. Check out her Instagram page for more.

Considered one of the most influential women in Egypt; Fahmy felt that her role transcended that of a jewellery designer to becoming an ambassador of Egyptian culture and the Arab world as a whole. To keep her message going she established the Azza Fahmy Design Studio in 2013, a jewellery designing school hosting national and international students. She also had various collaborations with international designers such as Julien MacDonald and Matthew Williamson to name a few.

To view Azza Fahmy’s collections in Amman visit her boutiques; located at Orient Art Gallery and the Four Seasons Hotel shopping arcade.
