6 || How she describes her designs?
“Feminine and soft, sensual and timeless, but with an underlying element of forward-thinking. I’m inspired by ancient Indian crafts and textile, which is heavily reflected in my Ayesha Depala Couture line, whereas Prêt-à-Porter remains soft with a strong street-savvy style. It’s the marriage of feminine sensibility with a sensual feel. I like to use soft feminine fabrics such as lace and chiffon but then work them into a strong, sexier silhouette.”
Depala was officially recognised as one of the most influential women in the region..
What inspires her designs? Indian culture is deeply embedded in her DNA, be it art, architecture, textile and crafts.. She materializes all that and translates it to fit the modern woman of today!
Her collections are sold in her namesake boutique at the Village Mall in Dubai, as well as Harvey Nichols.. Online you can find her gracing Ounass.com.
Below is a sneak peak and a description of Ayesha Depala’s latest S/S 17 collection…
The element of contradiction which is in many ways the essence of true femininity is at the heart of Ayesha Depala's new pret-a-porter assemblage. The collection stays true to Ayesha's soft and demure DNA whilst revealing her bold and tough side.. The collection features an array of jackets and parkas that are adorned with handmade appliqué flowers. Outerwear staples have been given a luxurious, more feminine touch whilst remaining integral to their fashion forward appeal. The assemblage consists of blouses, shirts, parkas and bomber jackets which are classic but detailed with Ayesha's signature ruffles and flowers. The blouses are paired with stronger gabardine trousers to counterbalance the feminine appeal making the look both soft and street at the same time. The collection also features some Demi-Couture outerwear pieces such as a silk all over Embroidered hand cut hoodie with 3 d appliqué flowers, and a French lace bomber which is intricately beaded with the smallest beads and sequins highlighted with organza flowers.
