Lanvin’s opulent Paris Fashion Week show was the brand’s biggest outing to date without Alber Elbaz.
The fashion world was left in shock in October when larger than life designer Elbaz quit his post, leaving Lanvin owner Shaw-Lan Wang having to find a quick replacement. Chloe alum Chemena Kamali filled Elbaz’s fashionable shoes, and showcased the labels Autumn /Winter 16 collection on Thursday evening (03March16).
The collection was full of luxe fabrics like patent trench coats, chiffon frills and a brocade tuxedo jacket with jeweled lapels. Velvet and crystal detailing were also utilized, which gave the show an air of opulence.
One model glowed as she strutted down the Parisian runway in a gold trench coat, belted at the waist. A choker and black boots completed the look, which although minimal, packed a powerful punch style wise.
Numerous lace creations were showcased, including a black one shoulder ankle-skimming dress, which featured intricate lace detail only on the top half. A white lace top, featuring a high neck, was teamed with a soft blue lace skirt, with the outfit exuding Elizabethan glamour.
As well as lots of floaty, feminine looks, there were more structured outfits on offer. Oversized tuxedo jackets, jackets with velvet lapels and nipped in waists added a tailored glamour to the womanly designs.
However those wanting to see a collection reminiscent of Elbaz’s work were left disappointed. The designer’s signature molten draping and refined silhouettes were nowhere to be seen, instead the brand showcased stiffer fabrics and rigid looks.
