Though it is crucial to understand that each person’s skin is different and what works on one might not work on another so sometimes you need a professional opinion.
1 || Simplify and Be Gentle and Patient
No matter how frustrated you are with your skin try to treat it gently. Simplify your routine, steer clear of abrasive scrubs and skin picking and be patient while the treatment takes its course.
2 || Salicylic Acid
Look for products with salicylic acid as they will help unclog pores and prevent new pimples from showing up but they will not kill the bacteria that causes the breakouts.
3 || Benzoyl Peroxide
Next, to kill the bacteria that causes the pimples, bring out the bigger guns and use a benzoyl peroxide product to dry up the pimples.
4 || Retin A
Retin-a is the most prescribed medication for the treatment of severe acne. Milder strengths can be used without a prescription to treat moderate acne and it is really helpful for people with blackheads and whiteheads. The strength can be gradually built up though it will need a prescription if you feel a stronger dose is needed.
5 || Cortisone Injections
When faced with an overly irritated pimple and you want a quick relief have a dermatologist inject your pimple or cyst with a diluted corticosteroid injection and the pimple will die within hours.
6 || LED Light Therapy
For everyday pimples that are inflamed, LED light therapy penetrates the skin layers and helps kill acne bacteria and reduce inflammation. Light therapy is often used alongside other acne treatment methods to produce best results. This can be done at home or at a doctor’s clinic.
7 || Derma Fillers
Restylane and Juvederm fillers among others are used to improve the appearance of acne scars by filling up the ‘holes’. Their effect is temporary however, and the results can last from a few months up to a year.
