The only thing missing was the “I'm every woman" soundtrack. Dolce & Gabbana's Spring '16 presentation was an homage to both their beloved Italy and their woman, the Dolce & Gabbana woman in her many guises.
How many times has it been said this season, “the show was a celebration"? Alexander Wang, Givenchy, Burberry… And this show was no different. A festive show, brimming with fruit earrings and floral hats, and even some fruit barrettes. This is what you need to know about the Dolce & Gabbana show.
#1 The Selfie
Large screens projecting the word 'selfie' were the only giveaway. Once the show began the models coming down the runway took selfie's of themselves that immediately appeared on the screens in addition to the brand's social media platforms. This concept was also used in their Fall'15/'16 campaign.
#2 The Setup
The Italian restaurant theme was the answer to Chanel's French bistro concept for Fall'15. A facade of an Italian storefront, flanked by fruit and souvenir shops.
#3 The Theme
Dolce & Gabbana's beloved Italy was once again the primary theme, postcard style photos adorned some dresses, appliqués of Italian landmarks mounted onto others.
#4 The Dolce Woman
The Dolce & Gabbana shows are always long and packed with a variety of themes. This presentation was no different, however the styles and techniques were the focus, this time it was the woman. The many faces of the Dolce & Gabbana woman, many with brand carrier bags in tow.
#5 The Turban
The presentation focused heavily on head gear, mostly divine silk scarf turbans, and floral or fruit head pieces.
